Summer is Almost Over!

It's sad. This summer has absolutely flown by. It's hard to believe everything that has happened in such a short period of time. It's been a good summer though too.

I baked cupcakes on Monday and did laundry, then went for a walk with D in the afternoon. Tuesday I went shopping for a gift for D's sister's wedding with him. She is getting married this weekend. He got her a coffee maker off of their registry. We had lunch and then he bought me a wii game and we had supper here with my family and then played the game for the rest of the night. I worked on Wednesday which was a lot of fun actually. After work we went and saw Inception which was confusing at first but had a great ending (one of those thinking movies)! Then today D and I went out for breakfast and then he headed off to meet the groom and his sister for wedding stuff.

I'm not going to the wedding. I would have liked to but was not invited. It is probably for the best anyway since D is in the wedding and would have to leave for pictures, and I wouldnt be able to sit with him at the ceremony or reception. It would have been a little bit awkward I think during those times. I've seen him everyday for the past 12 days though and probably won't see him again until Monday. I'm a bit sad about it lol.

I think I might do some reading, biking and sewing. Might even visit my parents where they go camping every weekend and do some swimming if it's nice. Might even go to TO and visit my roommate to go to the EX. I'm not sure yet! I've never been there so it could be fun!

What have I spent this week...I bought a wii nunchuk for $25, $28 on gas, some candy $3, D bought breakfast today, movie yesterday $10, and $10 for lunch on Tuesday. I think I've been eating out a lot more since hanging out with D. It's fun and we usually choose cheap places (typically breakfast) but it definitely adds up after a while. Gotta have more make-our-own dates.

LONG Weekend

I had an extra long weekend because D had Tuesday off. I worked Friday and then we were supposed to go to this shopping festival in town with my cousin and another friend. However he bailed on me because he was too tired to go, I still ended up going with my cousin and friend. It was a lot of fun and we saw a lot of people there!

Saturday D came over. We ran some errands in town, and he got a new HTC phone. Very cool. We then got some ice cream and sat at the falls and he took me to where he lives and showed me his favourite computer game and we chatted with his roommate. We then went out for supper and looked up potential areas to camp.

Sunday we talked more about camping and thought we really should have left that morning because it was beautiful out. We drove to Georgian Bay and looked into camping there, then decided to buy a tent and get ready to camp the next morning early. We went to his parents' house and borrowed a bunch of canoeing gear and some camping supplies. Strapped the canoe to his Jeep and then came back to our town to pack the rest.

We woke up early on Monday to pack everything up and head back to Georgian Bay, Massassauga Park. We got there and packed the canoe and then paddled for FOUR hours to get to our site. We swam and then started setting up. As soon as we were done setting up, it just poured for the rest of the night. The tent leaked with a tarp over top out of every zipper, I wonder what the return policy is on tents at CTC. It was difficult to have a fire and cook our burgers but it was done. Good thing D is very outdoorsy!!

Today we woke up, cooked breakfast over the fire and then packed up. It took about FOUR hours to paddle back as well. We did stop once for a quick swim to cool off. It was such a nice time camping with him. My back is absolutely killing me now though from all of the paddling! What a great workout! After we packed up the car we drove back to his parents' house to return everything. Then we returned his things and then mine. Then my brother, D and I went out for supper and a beer.

Total cost for the long weekend? $62. I found a loonie on the street during the shopping festival downtown and I didn't buy anything. I bought a sandwich which was $6 (lunch for two days) and ice cream for both of us ($7). I also paid for supper tonight which was $50 (D paid for the camping pass which was $23 for a night and two days of parking). It's a good thing I am working the rest of this week! I hope everyone had a great long weekend and enjoys the short work week woohoo!!

Dating is Expensive! or at least can be...

Many of you know that I broke up with XBF in June. It was a hard decision but the right one as well. We were together for a long time, 6.5 years. He would pay for a lot of the things we did together, I contributed as well but he covered most expenses. In the beginning of our relationship I wouldn't allow it, but I became very poor very quickly and he wanted to pay for things. It made going on dates really easy.

Now that I am starting over and it's summer there are a lot of things going on and a lot of them cost money. I don't want to have to rely on someone else to pay my way. But I'm also realizing quickly that dating is expensive!! I forgot HOW quickly things can add up. A movie here, a dinner here, a tank of gas, and there goes $60.

So I've been searching for cheap date ideas. I've been to the movies on cheap night ($6 awesome). I've looked into the drive-in, see 3 new movies for $10 each, or $15 together on carload night. Movies at home are always good too. There is a band that will play every Sunday, Monday and Thursday locally for donations. I live where there is a lot of lake access and beaches so that is always a fun option as well. Who doesn't love game night?? Tonight I am going to see a free improv comedy show. Tomorrow the town closes the streets downtown for shopping and entertainment.

Dinners are always fun to go to, but they add up so quickly. So I am thinking about seeing if he would like to make something together once in a while. Kind of a fun date and a delicious result.

Do you usually split the bill on dates? What was your favourite inexpensive date?

One of my FAVOURITE dates with XBF was actually a pretty cheap date. We went grocery shopping together and picked up these Easter colouring contest sheets (for kids, we weren't going to enter the contest), and a bottle of wine. We made supper together, then I brought over some crayons (yes, every teacher has crayons in their dorm room) and we watched the Leafs play as we drank wine, had some snacks and coloured. It was so fun and did not cost very much!

My FAVOURITE date so far with D was when he had a weekday off and we met in town. We got some ice cream from a new store and walked to the falls. We then stood in the water cooling down and just talked. It was so nice and peaceful there. Total cost was about $3 each. Another easy cheap date is when we take his roommate's dog for a walk. It's fun and free :)

Awesome Wedding :)

On Thursday I headed down to where my roommate lives. I met her where she would be having her wedding reception. We decorated and put on chair covers. Most of the other things were already done or would be done by the owner of the building. We then headed to her house for some supper and then got to work on wedding programs. Wow that was a ton of work!! My fingers hurt so much.

Friday we woke up early, had some breakfast and headed off to the spa. We all got our nails done and it took 5 hours. Too long, but it was fun to spend the time with the girls. Then we got some well deserved fast food. We went back to her house where I practiced my reading and the bride (roommate) worked on her rehearsal dinner speech and wedding day speech. She is SUCH a procrastinator!!

We then headed off to the church for the rehearsal. The priest was hilarious and made it really fun. Then we went to the groom's dad's house for a very fancy dinner. It was very nice! We went home and tried to go to bed early but everyone was so excited for the next day that it was hard to fall asleep.

Saturday we woke up early. The girls had their hair professionally done. My roommate did mine. Then the bride paid for everyone's make-up to be professionally done. That was very nice. The photographer came and took a ton of pictures of the bride getting ready and a bunch with the bridesmaids and her on the farm. The bride looked absolutely beautiful :) We put out a rosary on the clothesline to keep the rain from falling. It didn't work but I'm sure the pictures still turned out well.

Then the limo came. Red carpet and everything! We all jumped in and sang along to "we're going to the chapel." Got to the church and it was a beautiful wedding. A few tears before the ceremony began when she saw her grandma who they didn't think would be able to make it. But during the ceremony it was all smiles. Then we headed to the groom's dad's house again for some snacks before the reception.

The reception was great! The food was amazing, the songs they chose for dancing were great! I had a blast. I even got a centre piece! The groom grew up on a golf course and so their kissing game was a putting game where you had to get a hole in one. Also one of their favours included a golf ball with one of their engagement photos on it. It was the best wedding I have been to, just a ton of fun.

XBF was there too, but it wasn't very awkward. I think the group of people we were around made it a lot easier. It was nice to see him.

On Sunday we headed off to the groom's mom's house for brunch. Then the bride and groom opened all of their gifts. Most were household items they needed from their registry. They received a lot of really nice things. XBF and I bought them a wii (not on registry). It was a great weekend!!

Sunday night I hung out with D. We went out for Chinese food, played some boggle, then drove to a small town very close to me that I have never been to and sat on a dock and talked watching the stars. It was very nice.

For the weekend, I spent $45 on gas (filled up twice), $140 on the gift (shared the spending with XBF), and $22 on supper. It was well worth it!

Getting Paid To Have Fun

That is what today felt like. I worked for the camp and we went to Ontario Place. I had a great group and it was a perfect day. We went on some rides and then spent a lot of time in Soak City. To top it off, we were even given supper on the way home. It was such a fun day it hardly felt like work, and it was over 12 hours!

Tuesday night I went to see Despicable Me. I thought it was really cute. After the movie we went out for ice cream and sat by the lake. It was a nice night.

Tonight after work D came over. We had a word-game board game night and my brother joined in for a bit. We played Boggle and Bananagrams, good ol' fashioned fun :) I am heading off to my roommate's hometown tomorrow which is close to 5 hours away for her wedding and will be there until Sunday at some point.

I hope you have a great weekend! Enjoy the sunshine :)

Keeping It Frugal

I have been keeping things fairly frugal with this lack of work. I went out for ice cream last night. I also bought some groceries earlier last week and some gasoline. Other than that I haven't spent any money. I plan on going to the movies tomorrow ($6) and will be driving to visit my roommate on Thursday (she lives 5 hours away), and we are getting our nails done (mini mani and mini pedi, not sure what the mini part means) on Friday morning (unsure of what the cost will be for that, but I'm looking forward to having my nails for the first time).

I have been watching a lot of movies and going for walks with D. During the day I have been baking and doing some cooking. I made some dips, taco pizza (mmmmm) and regular pizza, nanimo bars and chocolate chip cookies.

On Friday I went to visit a cottage my roommate's parents rented. I brought cookies. Her parents made us lunch, we spent the day swimming and lounging in the sun. We went for a walk and had a sodoku challenge! Then we went out for supper, and her parents generously paid for all of us. They also gave me some desserts they picked up :)

Friday evening I hung out with my brother and D. Saturday I went to the craft show with my mom and then some friends came over for board games. Sunday D came over and we went out for ice cream and watched a movie.

Today I researched volunteer teaching in Africa and South America. I think it is something I am interested in for next summer. The costs are close to $5000 for two months (including flight, meals and accomodations), I will need to look into other programs. I would be very interested in doing something like this. Helping to teach young kids, and getting a great experience of visiting another country. I will need to think about this some more but it is something that I would love to do. Now there is really nothing holding me back except the finances. The program does not start until mid-June though so I have time to save. Something to think about!

Tomorrow I plan on being a bit more productive around the house and make supper for the family. D called me today and asked if I would like to see Despicable Me. Tomorrow is cheap-night at the theatre $6 for all ages, so it will be a fun date :) Has anyone seen it yet? My cousin said it was very cute.

I also got an e-mail asking if I would like to work Wednesday and Friday of this week. I told them I could work the Wednesday (Friday I will be busy helping and preparing for my roommate's wedding). Turns out Wednesday is also the day they are going to Ontario Place so it will be a fun day of work and extended hours! Hope the weather is nice!

I hope everyone is having a great week!

Boredom Busters

LOL I've been a bit bored lately. This no working thing is actually harder than I thought! My mom was laughing at me yesterday because I was cleaning out the pantry. She said "wow you must really be bored."

Yesterday I made nanimo bars, my FAVOURITE dessert. I made chocolate chip cookies today, and for supper I am going to make two types of pizza, regular and taco pizza. I haven't made taco pizza before but I saw a recipe and it looked good!

I've been listening to a LOT of music on youtube too. I think my new favourite band is Lady Antebellum. Perfect Day might be my new favourite song at the moment. Every song is very catchy and relatable.

Friend, let's call him D. He came over last night and the night before. We went for a walk and watched some a movie both nights. I think he is going to come over again tonight after work. I think we are going to watch Disney's Earth. Looks pretty interesting, like the Planet Earth series. Last night we watched Hancock which I thought was good too!

I've also been reading Harry Potter. I'm about halfway through the first book. It's getting more interesting. I think I will finish this one but not sure if I will read any of the following books. D also brought me over a book called Generation A by Douglas Coupland. Ever read any of his books before??

My friend's parents rented a cottage for the week so I will be heading there tomorrow morning for the day, yay a change of scenery!

Off to read a chapter outside now and then do some grocery shopping. Happy Thursday!

Weekend Recap

I had a nice weekend. Friday I spent time going through all my winter and summer clothes and picking out what I wanted to keep and what I wanted to donate. I tried everything on except for the things I knew I didn't want anymore. I ended up with 5 grocery bags stuffed full. One bag of recyclable material. Also 2 hoodies, and one long sleeve shirt for my mom. It was good, and now I have more space in my closet.

I also want to go through some of my "stuff" and declutter. I have a lot of things in my closet that can go. I want to get ready to move some things to BF's apartment this summer. He is coming next weekend so hopefully he can take a few things with him. I brought my stand mixer this weekend when I visited him but that's it so far.

Saturday I went to visit BF. He is back at home now that he is done his placement. Was nice to see his family. We talked about our trip a bit, I'm still not too sure what the plans are though. Will be an adventure lol. 18 more days!!!

Today BF made me breakfast and then I went to my roommate's bridal shower. She liked her gift I got her :) I also won two prizes, one a tile with a cute picture on it, and the other was some mint chocolates mmm. They helped on my 4 hour drive home. Blahhh. Anyway after the bridal shower she took me to see her "work in progress" house. They purchased it in October from her grandma for a great price. They have been making mortgage payments ever since. They have also been pretty much tearing the place apart from the inside. They had walls up but no drywall, only two rooms had flooring. The tub went in today, no toilet. It will look really nice when it's all done though. Slowly they have been working on things and paying for things.

Really made me want to move out and buy a house to renovate. I love those home renovation homes. But also reminded me of how much homes cost. Redoing a house, purchasing "things" for your first home, and planning and paying for a wedding, yikes! I still have A LOT to save up for...ohhhh I wish I could win that $50 million! Doesn't help that I didn't buy a ticket.

G8 and G20 parody

This is so funny. If I had a billion dollars....a parody by two friends on the ridiculous spending on the G8 and G20. Click this site!

PS What do you PF bloggers think of this whole billion dollar spending on 3 days worth of conferences?
The G8 is a conference about global debt...IMHO, I think they should have skyped the whole meeting and put that money to better use! :)

It's All Over...

What am I going to do now with my evenings every 2-3 days now that hockey is over :(

Did anyone else watch last night's stanley cup winning game? Great game!

Personally I was cheering for Philly for no other reason than that they were the underdogs. However it made me happy to see Chicago win as well. Especially all the talks they had with the players after. Toews is just 22 and now has a Stanley Cup and a gold medal under his belt. Amazing!!

I honestly didn't see that last goal. It was so fast. I think only the goalie and Kane knew it was actually in. It was a pretty weird final goal. Also pretty weird that it was the same spot that Crosby won the gold medal game with. Very difficult angle!

Also that Stanley Cup finals commercial gets me everytime. The one where Stanley Cup winners are being interviewed and they just have nothing to say, they are speechless. One player starts to cry and pulls his hat over his eyes, the last player stutters and then just laughs. Have you seen it? It's very sweet :)

Anyway I'm already looking forward to September...come on Leafers!

June!! This and That

It's June already!! Can you believe it?

That mean's only a few potential school days left. One month until my 25th birthday!! One month until we leave for Holland! One month until Summer!

There is a lot to do before July. I need to pack for our trip. I also need to at least get some things organized for moving in with BF for the rest of the summer. My parents have a storage unit that they have been wanting to get rid of for a while but my brother's and my STUFF is in there too so they have kept it. I want to go through that stuff and hopefully clear it out. Save my parents some money each month.

I also want to start working out again. It's been so hot and I've been tired so I haven't done ANYTHING in a while...too long. I want to start doing pushups and situps everyday. Maybe while I'm watching a show or at least during the commercials I'll get a few in. It's almost bathing suit season!

I want to pay off my family loan this month. But it REALLY depends on how much work I get this month. So if I am able to only owe them $300 I will be satisfied. I'll get the rest done after summer.

I want to do some summer clothes shopping. I spent a bit this month with all the times I went to Toronto, but I am still lacking a few things. Maybe another dress, one more pair of shorts, and a couple nice t-shirts. I am lacking teaching summer clothes too.

I'm going to transfer my travel fund into my regular bank account so it's easier access. I've also already spent $660 of it. I'm going to keep the rest in my bank account and take it out overseas if it's needed.

I need to get my hair cut too. It's really long right now. I was thinking about growing it really long and then donating it, but I don't know if I have the patience for it anymore. It's so nice to have shorter hair in the summer. Has anyone donated their hair before? My roommate did and she needed 10 inches, but I thought some places took 6-8 inches. And what if it has been coloured??

I need to get my roommate a birthday present. I'm seeing her twice this month so I'm going to give it to her in person instead of mailing it which will save some money, or give me a little bit more to spend on her. I'm thinking a teacher gift basket since she just completed her first full-year at a private school or a cooking gift basket since she is teaching her new boyfriend how to cook.

Here Comes the Sun

What a nice day it was today!! BF and I were in Toronto and we took a subway to the Beaches. Neither of us had been there before and it was really nice. It was soooo busy there though! We only stayed a couple of hours because I needed to get home. They have a HUGE boardwalk there and a huge beach. We are going to go again more prepared (pack a picnic and bring towels and sandals).

This weekend we visited my roommate and her boyfriend and had sushi. She also gave me a sewing book as an early birthday present. :) I should get back into sewing.

BF and I also went to Gretzky's restaurant and then to Second City. The food was good, we were stuffed! The show was sooo funny. It was not like I expected. It was called Second City for Mayor and I thought it was going to be one long play about politics, but it was a bunch of skits about random things. BF also got picked on AGAIN by one of the characters. It was really funny, and the improv was VERY well done!!

We did some shopping at Vaughan Mills. I bought some shoes and some summer clothes. In my budget for next month, not this one. Oops, so will have to do some rearranging to accommodate for that!

Hope you had a fantastic LONG WEEKEND!! What did you do??

Calling In Sick

I'm sick. I felt it coming on yesterday and then this morning when I woke up it was not good. I was not going to be able to teach today. I waited about 15 minutes and then at 6:30 I called in sick. Hopefully they were able to find another supply teacher. I felt bad, I HATE calling in sick. But as a teacher I think it's good when the teacher calls in sick to avoid other kids and teachers also catching the cold.

It's also too bad because now I have lost out on a day of work. You work, you get paid. You don't work, you don't get paid. I slept for another 5 hours and then had some lunch. I'm feeling A LOT better now and hopefully will be able to work tomorrow. I can definitely use the money especially because next week is already cut short with the long weekend!

Do you get paid sick days? Do you call in sick often?

Life in Toronto....Tickets Suck

It's fun! Every weekend I visit BF is like a mini-vacation. There is a lot to do and see in T.O.

This weekend we went to his sister's apartment which is close to Ryerson. We had supper and drinks with her, her boyfriend, and BF's brother and his GF. It was a lot of fun. We took the subway home.

Saturday BF made me brunch and then we walked around the Annex area. We decided to go out for sushi for supper. It was an all-you-can-eat place. It wasn't the best sushi I've ever had but the price was decent. We then bought a subway day pass and headed up Yonge St. We headed up to Absolute Comedy. We went too early though so we strolled Yonge St for a while. The show was good, the host was the funniest. We sat near the front and the host asked us how long we had been dating for. BF answered and he told us we were a cute couple and made fun of us for dating for so long and looking young. He said that BF must have asked me out while we were playing on a slide. The comedians were funny and our faces hurt from smiling by the end of the show.

This morning we leave to go out for breakfast and notice that I got a parking ticket. Darn. I knew it would happen eventually. It was $30. There is no parking around so I decided to risk it and park on the street without a permit. The by-law came by at 2:11am and gave me a ticket on my windshield. I paid it tonight and have now purchased a permit for next weekend. The permits are $19.32 for a week. So I'll be getting those for the next 3 weekends he has left to live there, I don't like paying for parking!! On the bright side breakfast was delicious. Then we went to High Park again. This time we took the subway which was wayyyy easier than driving and finding parking. We saw the animals and walked around for a while. It was so nice out! We then went back and got some food for supper and made it together and ate on his front steps.

I had a nice weekend. I'm looking forward to going back. We are thinking about checking out another park, and maybe the cinema on bloor. Maybe even Canada's Wonderland one weekend. BF has NEVER been there!!!

Lack of Sleep

I haven't been sleeping well lately. I blame the playoffs. Darn those late-night hockey games. Then after hockey I'm usually still wide-awake and decide to watch late night....usually Jay Leno and a bit of David Letterman. Those shows are so funny! I usually set my TV to sleep and then fall asleep watching them which is typically around midnight. Then I need to get up at 7am to work the next day.

7 hours of sleep is not enough. I think I may make "get more sleep" a goal of mine for the rest of this month. I am very awake once I get up, but getting up is hard to do!! I always regret not going to bed early when my alarm is beeping at me, but then the very next night I don't want to go to bed early. It's a vicious, vicious cycle!

How about you, how much sleep do you get an average night? Are you a night or morning person? Are you able to function 100% without a good night's sleep?

I was reading about "sleep debt." Yep just like money debt we have sleep debt where we need to "pay back" our bodies the sleep we deprived it of. So THAT'S why I sleep in on Saturdays!! The average adult needs 8 hours per night! I need to work on that! Kids (6-10) need 10-11 hours of sleep! Wow that's a lot of sleeping!

How Much Cashola Do You Carry?

My cousin and I had a conversation the other day about her boyfriend and the fact that he is cheap.

He NEVER carries cash. Nothing.

They go out and often the bill comes to under $20. He thinks it's a waste to use his debit card on something so small and she ends up footing the bill. She gets mad at him that she is always paying for everything and he never carries around any cash. She said she likes to keep at least $100 in her wallet at all times.

I said I'm lucky to have $20 in there. She was surprised.

Right now I have $24.76 in my wallet. That is only because my brother gave me $20 for gas last night.

I started wondering what most people do. How much cash do you typically carry with you daily?

Semi-Bad Volunteering Experience

As some of you may know I am a Brownie Leader (younger than Girl Guides). This is my second year (every week for 2 hours, for 10 months). I love it but dislike it at the same time.

I love....the kids! They are a hilarious group! They have a lot of fun and enjoy the programming. There are also a few girls in the group who see this as a getaway once a week from their life. It's great to see them smiling, encouraging one another, and making new friends.

What I don't love....the other leaders. Blahhhh. They do program with me but they chat about other random things (mostly themselves) far too much and it's extremely frustrating. I have better things to do and we could be way more productive with our planning time. They are also not very involved with the kids, I end up leading most activities while they do the paperwork, they hardly smile and the kids come to me for EVERYTHING (if they have something to share, if they have something to ask, etc). Kids gravitate to those that give them structure and are friendly. I wish we worked better as a team. There are so many things I could tell you about this one leader I work with that I won't even get into.

Another thing that I don't like is that I end up paying to volunteer. Grrrr. A minor issue but still it's annoying. I had to pay money to take an online course. I also had to transport myself and take another face-to-face course which was 5 hours and very political. Things I did not need to know. Also I have to pay to go on the camping activities. It is at a reduced rate, but still I am paying $25 to volunteer 30 hours of my time this weekend. I don't think that is right. Minor, but I think the dues the kids pay each week, plus the cost of their registration and cookie money should be able to more than cover the cost for leaders and even reduce the rate of their own trip.

I don't know if I will do it next year, I may look into volunteering with a different Brownie or Spark group. I need new leaders. It's a great program for the kids and I really do enjoy volunteering! Have you ever had this sort of issue? Ever have a poor co-worker? Am I being cheap with the paying to volunteer thing?

What sort of volunteering do you do?

Full Day Turned Half

My alarm went off today, I got dressed to work and was eating breakfast and starting to make my lunch when the principal of the school I was to work at today calls. He said there was an error and that my full day was only a half day afternoon. Darn. I said that was okay and I'd see him at noon.

I spent the morning straightening my hair, making a lunch, organizing and cleaning my room. At least it was a productive morning. I also called the payroll department of my school board because I did a half day EA supply day back in March and still have not been paid for it. The woman I talked to said she would sort it out and I would be paid next pay period (which is the 14th).

On my way to work today I saw two Canadian geese leading 3 baby ones to the lake, they were very cute! Then a little further I saw a wild turkey, a nature filled day!

Off to volunteer now, hope you had a marvelous Monday!

Also, in case anyone is interested, today P&G have a new brand sampler package. http://brandsampler.ca/en_CA/home.php You sign up there and they send you a bunch of free samples! Some Pantene shampoo and conditioner, a Venus razor, some Crest floss, sample of Crest Whitestrips, etc. This is my first time doing it but I know the samples run out quickly. It also took me several tries on the website to totally complete everything since the site was so busy.

Weekend In Toronto

or Tronno as the locals call it ;)

After I got lost twice I met BF at his new apartment (a main floor of a house). Toronto is so crazy. Driving in TO is not fun, it stressed me out! Once I got to his house I also had to park on the street because the houses on his road didn't have driveways! I parallel parked which took me two tries (I'm not used to parallel parking at all). He gave me the grand tour, let's just say it's a shoes-on house (the tenants before were not the cleanest). There is a cleaning service coming in on Tuesday so hopefully they can get it cleaned up and freshened up. It's a small place but doable for the 6 weeks he is there. The part I like best is that BF has a bright purple room, lol.

We decided to hop on the subway and we got a day pass for $10 for both of us! I was starving so we went to a place on Yonge St. that had sushi. It was soooo good, really hit the spot. It was pretty much right across from this Church of Scientology which was interesting to see. Don't see those too often.

We then headed back on the subway and went to the Eaton's Centre. It is HUGE, we went into a few stores and I bought a new bathing suit, pair of flip flops and a hoodie. BF got some sandals and a collared shirt. We also went to this place called Lush and got a few bath soaps. Smelled so good!

We then hopped back on the subway and went back to his apartment to drop everything off. I'm so impressed we were able to navigate the subways so easy. Later that night we decided to have a couple drinks and then go walk to Bloor St. We did so and went to a place called The Pump to watch the hockey highlights, had a drink and some nachos. Mmmmm nachos.

Today we got up and walked back to Bloor St. We went to this place to have breakfast which I wouldn't go to again. The wooden tables were sticky, we ordered the exact same thing but BF got 3 eggs and I got 2, and I got about 5 pieces of bacon and BF got 2. After breakfast we went to Honest Eds where BF got some cleaning supplies and a curtain for his window. That store is HUGE! I don't even think we saw half of it!! They have an East and West wing and about 5 floors on each side. Crazy!

It started to clear up after that so we drove down to High Park. Thanks for the recommendations to go there! It was very nice, what a big park in the middle of Toronto. A nice getaway. We drove for about 10 minutes trying to find a parking spot. While we were looking for a parking spot we saw where the animals were, we both said we want to go there once we find a spot to park. We walked through the park for a while and NEVER found them! We are going to try again another weekend, it was a very nice and scenic walk. The trees are very pretty with their blooms right now.

We drove back and stopped at a grocery store so he has some food for lunches and we made supper together. It was a lot of fun this weekend. I spent about $150 including a tank of gas and clothing. Well worth it. I'm excited to visit again. I'll be going to TO again next weekend but won't be seeing BF, I'm going to Jungle Cat World with my Brownie group. I will be going back to visit BF in TO again the weekend after, already excited!

Let's Get Physical

I've been singing that song tonight. Why? Because I am dressed in 80s gear. Yep tomorrow is 80s day at the school I'm working at so I've gotta have some school spirit!

I am wearing my hair curly in a side ponytail, side bangs with a neon pink hair band. Big hoop earrings, blue eyeshadow and lots of it. A couple of my moms necklaces and a bunch of her bangles. Then I'm wearing this normal neon pink v-neck t-shirt, and my neighbour let me borrow her black spandex pants (I should mention my neighbour is in her late 60s lol). I am wearing flats because I have no 80s shoes (where are my high tops or my jelly shoes when I need them??), and my mom let me have a new pair of pink fuzzy home-socks. I cut the toes off of them and they are now leg warmers! They are a bit short but they will do.

I hope most of the students and teachers ALSO dress up!!

I sent a pic to BF and he thinks I look 80s yay! I love playing dress up. Enjoy your Friday and weekend!
