I've been looking for a summer job for the past few weeks. I had today off and decided to take the smart-serve test. It's good forever at least and most restaurant jobs require it. It was about $40 after HST.
I've applied to a ton of places and have a job "interview" tomorrow at a tree-top trekking place and we are actually going trekking during the interview. It will be interesting. I also have another one for a serving position on Saturday. I've never served before so that should be interesting as well.
I hope to hear back from a few more of the places I have applied to, I'll keep you updated with the search.
Good to hear you're getting interviews. I was so frustrated with having very few phone calls that I finally resorted to a temp agency.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your ongoing search!
What is the smart-serve test?
ReplyDeleteSmart serve is a certificate you need to be able to serve alcohol.
ReplyDeleteJolie, I can't view your blog anymore. I'm not sure if it's a problem on my end? Has any one else said they can't view your blog?
I took the course online, it was about 3.5 hours to go through the modules and quizzes and write the final test. I took notes as I went though too.
Good luck, hope you get something you can enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWell you're getting interviews so that's a great start. Tree top trekking? That sounds interesting...but what is it really?
ReplyDeleteTree top trekking is walking in the trees. You are harnessed in like rock climbing and you walk over cables and wooden logs up in the trees. It was a lot of fun, and a good workout. Too bad it rained like crazy :S I think it would be a job I would enjoy but also keeping my eyes open for others.
ReplyDeleteGMC no I haven't had anyone say that they can't see it. I haven't changed the settings on viewing and I have had ppl leave comments. What does it say when you click?
ReplyDeleteIt says Internet Explorer cannot open the site and then Operation Aborted. Your blog is the only one it's doing it for. I'll just have to try and use another browser I guess.
ReplyDeleteThat's really weird. Not sure if there is anything I can do on my end to fix that for ya.
ReplyDeleteActually Jolie that happens to me when I try to open your blog at school but it's FINE AT HOME so I just figured it was because the schoolboard prevents us from viewing certain sites with certain words in them like "blog" (I think).
ReplyDeleteI've heard about the smart serve certificate. My friend has it and is pretty useful if you're gonna be in the food industry doing full-time or part-time jobs. They like to see it on the resume.
ReplyDeletePS-I can see Jolie's blog no problem today.
