Shorts for Free?? What Would You Do?

BF and I went shopping on Saturday at Vaughan Mills. I bought some shoes and some clothes.

At one store (Bluenotes) I bought two pairs of jeans, two pairs of shorts, a pair of capris and a membership card. Buying the card actually saved me $15! Looking at the receipt now I noticed that they did not charge me for one pair of shorts. They were $14.50.

I do not plan on going back to this mall anytime soon. I do pass the mall on my way home from BFs house but it's usually closed by the time I'm going home and during the day it's SUPER busy. Should I just consider this a free item? Has this happened to you before? Did you go back and pay for the item or keep it since it was a mistake by the store. I'm leaning toward keeping it, I really don't want to go back to that mall to pay MORE money. What would you do?

  1. call the store and let them know what happened. You may be able to pay for it over the phone. the missing item would go under losses, and in the long run everyone pays for this type of mistake. They may tell you to keep the item for being honest. Hope this helps.

  2. If its totally out of the way for you then I wouldnt do anything about it. If it was a place i went to all the time then yeah.

  3. Ok, I will admit that if it was out of my way, I probably wouldn't. . . but if I noticed it right away and/or lived in the area, I'd take it back.

  4. Call me cheap but I wouldn't return the shorts to the store and pay for the lose. I would say the loss is theirs for not picking it up at the time. Consider it a freebie for being a loyal customer :) Enjoy the shorts.. they were free!!! Woohoo :P

  5. My 'gut' says to call the store and try and pay for them over the phone or see what they say. In reality? I probably wouldn't get around to it. Not out of a desire to score a freebie but just because it would probably slip my mind before I had a chance to really pursue it.

  6. This happened to me a while ago but with a flat of pop. I debated it on my blog and the consensus was that if it's easy to return it then you should. If not, keep it. I kept it.

  7. I'm probably a bad person for this but after hearing your comments and some comments from friends I am just going to keep it. It was a clearance item and the store is 2 hours away. It would just be too much of a hassle. Thanks for the comments.

  8. You're not a bad person... Cause I'd have done exactly the same thing. And chances are... Even if it was down the street from me, I'd still have kept it. ^__^;;
