Where is the Best Place to Buy Prescriptions?

I need to get a prescription filled soon. Where is the cheapest place to get them refilled? I have been going to Shoppers forever but I've heard Costco is cheaper.

I cannot go to Costco as it's an hour away and I don't have a membership card. What about Walmart or Pharmaplus? Any other places that you know of that have a cheaper fee to have prescriptions filled?

  1. Most likely Walmart or one of the pharmacies in a grocery store will have the best Rx fee. Costco is the cheapest, however if you have to drive an hour, then you lose the savings. Pharma Plus/Rexall is almost as expensive as Shoppers. If it's an ongoing prescription, get 3 months at a time and you'll also save on fees that way.

  2. I go to Superstore. . . I think it's called Loblaws in Ontario. Their dispensing fee is pretty low.

I used to call around to drugstores to ask what their dispensing fee's are.

  3. Walmart has the cheapest I've seen. But they're a bit of a pain. I find Zeller's and Food Basics pretty low too.

  4. Do you have a local independently owned pharmacy near by? I used to work at one throughout high school and university and we had some very low dispensing fees. I'd check out that option.

  5. Costco and Sam's Club pharmacies are open to the public...you don't have to be a member to use them (it's a law). Check those out!

  6. Walmart will fill most prescriptions for $10, even without insurance. At least, that's been my experience. Not sure about things like BC though.
