Phone Issues

My phone has been acting weird lately. If I get a long text from someone it will send the first two in separate messages and not the third message. Frustrating. It also goes completely blank once in a while.

This part worries me because I'm not sure if I CAN receive calls at this time as I cannot make them (calls=jobs). I can't see what I'm doing. I know the phone is still on because there is light in the background still. So I am considering getting a new phone.

I currently have one of the old flip phones. No fancy data-plan phone for me. But I think if I get a new phone that's the way I would go. I am thinking either an Android phone or a Windows 7. Anyone have suggestions?

I have an i-pod touch so I really don't need an i-phone. I'm Canadian but I don't think I have much use for a blackberry.

I think I can hold out a little longer. I am hoping that a good deal will come on and I can get a decent phone for not an extreme price. I'll likely go with the 3 year contract just to save money on the phone even though I REALLY do not want to be stuck in another contract. It will save me $300+.

Anyway I did not get a job today so today's goals are to FINALLY FINISH my sewing projects. This is number one. I also want to do some baking (already making cheesecake). Possibly get some photos developed. All before 4pm when I am supposed to babysit for a few hours.

  1. I dunno about which phones... But I'm the same way. I have an old flip Nokia phone right now. And my contract ends this year.

But when the time comes, you can try to find a new plan trhough https://www.mycellphonemyterms.com

It only works for certain parts of the country though so you'll have to see if they service your area.

Basically, you create your ULTIMATE plan with whatever cell you want and how much you want to pay per month. They will take your plan, tell it to the service providers in the area & then the cellphone companies will make you an offer based on your plan. You can choose to accept one or reject them outright. There is no fee as an user.

  3. I don't have suggestions for any smartphones as I don't have one myself. But I would say to get maybe a really cheap, unlocked, non-fancy phone? Having a working phone is pretty important in general, especially for your job. My phone (a samsung) will randomly hang up on people, and I've been told numerous times to get a new phone. I think I'll just switch to my old fliphone until my contract with The Red Devil (rogers) runs out this September.

oh and that service recommended by the Asian Pear sounds totally awesome. I'm going to try it out!

  4. I have an HTC Desire (Android) from Telus and I really like it. Plus it's a lot less expensive than some.

  5. Teachers in Ontario have a great cell phone deal through Edvantage discounts. The plans can't be beat. Here's a link: http://www.edvantage.ca/english/partner-pages/bell-mobility-e.asp

  6. Look into Koodo! You don't technically have a contract but they give you a "tab" to pay all or part of the phone, and 10% of your monthly bill goes towards it. If you're done with them, just pay off your tab. They also don't have a system access fee, which is why I switched. They're actually a part of Telus so it accesses that network. So far so good for me but I've heard their customer service sucks if you need anything.
