Weekend Update

My brother and his girlfriend moved out. They are now all set up in their new apartment. It makes me jealous. I haven't even seen the place yet but I've heard it's pretty nice. I will have to get them a housewarming gift and visit it this week!

It made me look up places online. Yep still nothing I would be able to afford by myself. One day....It might be fun to move in with D as well, but I don't think we are at that stage yet. So for now I'll continue saving money at home.

I applied to a couple of jobs today, will do more tomorrow. Tomorrow I am writing a test for a census job I applied for. Hope it goes okay! I don't think it will take very long so I am going to hopefully apply to jobs afterward.

Friday was my first of 3 paycheques this month. From it I put $150 into Christmas savings, $100 toward the Computer fund, and $150 into the Travel Fund. This means I have completed TWO goals already this month.

I'm thinking I'm also going to increase my travel fund goal to $1000 this year from the original $500. I do not have any travel plans this year but would like to be able to do something if the opportunity arises and it's something I'm interested in. Or I can carry it over for another year and go on a nicer vacation!

  1. You are doing so well with your money management. Some day you'll be able to afford a place of your own, whether alone or with D... just keep saving and stay focused on those goals. You are doing great!

Where are you thinking of traveling to?

  3. Thanks Makky's Mom! One day is right, I can be patient...

I think the test went well. It was pretty straight forward. I would really like to travel anywhere if something comes up. I would really like to go scuba diving again somewhere tropical. I one day want to go to Thailand, Australia or somewhere in Africa. Will need to save up a lot longer for that though.

  4. I don't specifically have a travel fund but I think that I need to rethink that. I love traveling. Take the opportunity while you're young to go as many places as you can. Thailand, Australia and Africa sound like so much fun.

  5. Your idea to increase it is brilliant. You already met your goal so anything from here would be a bonus and it can only make things better, plus you don't have to force it if you don't want to since you actually completed the main goal, you can just put money that you don't know what to do with. Good luck with the exam and the applications.

  6. I know how you feel. I've been itching for a place of my own lately too. But yknow what? I think (for you and I), home is a good place right now. And it's not that bad. It does have its perks no?
