Mmmmm pancakes!!
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and also the day when I give up something for lent, OR do something extra. I have given up all sorts of things before, chips, chocolate, candy, doing one nice thing for my family each day, etc. I'm not sure what to do this year. I am thinking I will exercise each day and maybe something else like no eating out or I don't know. What about you? Do you participate in Lent, are you giving anything up for it?
Oh, I forgot...maybe I will make the kids pancakes for lunch (I am working from home today).
ReplyDeleteI am not very religious, so I generally don't participate in Lent...
I am giving up candy this year, like you I've had years where I have given something up or decided to do something each day. This year it's giving up candy, I seem to have been dipping in to the office candy jar WAY too often! :) Wish me luck! I look forward to hearing what you decide to do for sure.
ReplyDeleteDoes that include chocolate? I find that chocolate is in everything!! It's really hard to avoid. Good luck, it will be challenging for sure!
ReplyDeletePersonally I've never given anything up for lent but maybe I will try to give something up for once. Not necessarily for religious reasons but just to see if I could do it for 40 days.
ReplyDeleteI think I will do sweets this year...although I am not clothes shopping all year, so I could count that if I wanted to, right? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not religious so I don't understand...why pancakes?
ReplyDeletePancakes because lent is a time of fasting. People used to give up things like meat, sugar, eggs, and butter for the 40 days during lent. And pancakes include those (minus the meat) so it was a good way to use them up before lent began.
ReplyDeleteNow not many give up those types of things but the pancake tradition has still continued. Mmmmm!
