How Much For A Haircut?

I am getting my hair cut tomorrow. I'm also going to get it highlighted, I'm so excited. I don't get to go to the hairdresser very often. 3-4 times each year. It's expensive and it's very hard to schedule around my working schedule. However I already know that I am only working in the morning tomorrow so I called today and booked an appointmennt for tomorrow afternoon.

How often do you get your hair cut? How much does it cost to get done? What do you get done?

I have long hair, not crazy long but below my shoulders. I get partial highlights, and then about once a year I will get full highlights. I go to a place I trust and they do a nice colouring. It costs me about $100 with tip. Yikes, that's why I don't get it done very often.

Boys have it easy, my brother cuts his own hair! FREE! I could highlight it myself but that is such a process and it never turns out the way you want. I have light brown hair, and if I don't get the colour right it turns out a weird orangish colour, so it's worth it to me to have it professionally done.

  1. Now that my hair is a little longer, about shoulder length, I get it cut about every 3 months or so. The place I go is $35 and the owner thinks that tipping "cheapens" the experience. This is a pretty high-end salon too. I just lucked into getting a guy that is fairly new to the profession and happens to do a good job. I'm pretty particular about haircuts, so I'd spend any amount really. The most expensive was probably around $100 bucks. I don't get my hair highlighted because it's expensive, I like my natural haircolor and I'm pretty low-maintence in that department. I'd say $100 bucks is pretty reasonable for a haircut/highlight.

  2. I go every 6-8 weeks (whenever the color starts to look really bad to me). The amount varies, because I asked my hairdresser how I could save money and maintain my "look." She doesn't do full highlights anymore and works her magic to make it cheaper when she can. Anyway, it varies between 90 and 120 dollars. Essentially, I allot $150/month for health and beauty (makeup, hair products, clothes, etc.) and most of it goes to my hair. :/

  3. I usually get a cut every 6 months to a year. I'm trying to grow out my hair so that's why the long periods of time. I go to the ethnic small business hair salons in my neighbourhood. I'm not looking for a major cut though... Just a trim with layers. And usually that's as little as $9. Depending on where I go and if I get a wash & cut, the amount is as low as $9 to as high as $30 (including tax & tip). But I won't pay much more than that (since I am CHEAP!) =D

  4. I go to a specific place every time, the hair stylist takes the time to really do a top notch job. It costs $35 for the cut and I tip $5 which = $40. When I have my hair in the 'bob' style I get it cut every 5-6 weeks, but I am growing it out so the timing is now every 3 months.

  5. I go every other month (so 8 weeks max. between cuts)and I have an angled bob cut (like Victoria Beckham). I always get my haircut at First Choice because I get 15% off with my SPC VIP card. My last cut came to $12.89 so I usually give $15.00 so she gets a tip. I dye my own hair at home usually before I get it cut and always combine coupons with sales when buying hair dye.

  6. I usually go every 8 weeks and I get it done at First choice. It's cheap and fast. I am growing it out right now, so I am just trimming the bangs and haven't been since the end of November. I am growing it to my shoulders, then I am going to get a body wave...my hair is terribly straight and fine. I want something that I can style if necessary or throw into a ponytail when I don't feel like styling it, lol. So, I have to save up for that, because it's going to cost!

  7. Oh tales, girls like you make me so jealous. I wish I had straight fine hair. I get mine thinned out and I straighten it (it's so wavy). Lucky you get it naturally.

  8. If I remember, it's usually something between 6-20 weeks between cuts depending on the length. But I've been lucky and using a hair school for the past 5 years has only cost me $12-14 per cut. <3 that!
